         Junior Coaching at Athlone Golf Academy     

    Junior Coaching classes will be starting on week commencing 28th September and will run for 8 weeks in a fun friendly environment. The coaching will consist of 8 x  1 hour weekly coaching from P.G.A qualified Professionals Gary Rushgrove & Shane Madden. The total cost for the classes are €120, this includes golf balls, tuition and equipment if needed. Each pupil will also receive teaching notes from the lessons to monitor there progress and to encourage practise. We are running 6 classes consisting of 6 pupils in each class only interested pupils need apply.  Should you wish your child to participate you can contact the Academy on 0906 489 004.

    How many points of contact do you have with the golf club? Only two; your hands, and they dictate the level of feel and the amount of feedback that you’ll get from each shot, as well as your ability to square (or open or close, depending on your necessity) the club face through impact.

    Now consider your thought process when choosing a glove. Is there one? Or are decisions made based on material, price or brand? Whichever the answer, the sheer number of gloves on the market today can make things confusing; but a glove is certainly worth more consideration so we’re going to clarify things by walking through some of the most important factors.

    Make no mistake, a high quality, high performance glove does cost a little extra; but if you get your grip right and make sure you have the correct size (far too many golfers wear gloves that are too big) it’ll be worth it. Not only will you find that it’s more comfortable, it will be more durable and provide better traction too – and that means performance; your shot dispersion will tighten and your handicap will drop. Simple as that.
